This ANAKALUSUGAN Party-list Representative Ray Florence Reyes stated, as he urged the for a better information, education, and communication campaign for the promotion of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) games during the committee meeting of the lower house deliberating on the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget of the charitable institution.
The PCSO leadership admitted before members of the House Appropriation Committee that it continues to incur huge amounts in losses due to the prevalence of illegal numbers games and unregulated gambling.
Rep. Reyes uncovered during the House Committee hearing that the agency was losing 35- 45 percent of possible bets due to illegal and non-performing Small Town Lottery (STL) operations and other PCSO games.
“These losses are not only lost bets. These are lost revenue that could have been collected for government coffers. These are wasted opportunities to provide medical assistance pursuant to the objectives of the Universal Health Care Law,” Rep. Reyes said.
Rep. Reyes then vowed to help crack down illegal operators and solve the problems hounding non-performing gaming operators.
