Amid 27 million vax doses expiring in July, AnaKalusugan party-list urges Filipinos to get booster jab
AnaKalusugan Party-list (No. 51) nominee Ray Roquero urged senior citizens and eligible Filipinos to get vaccinated and boosted amid the low uptake for a third dose.
“I am calling on all our kababayans, especially our senior citizens who are at greater risk at contracting COVID-19, and those who are eligible, to get vaccinated and boosted as soon as possible. Let us not be complacent and wait for the vaccine efficacy to wane by the second half of the year,” Roquero said.
The AnaKalusugan Party-list (No. 51) nominee noted that only 60 percent of the total senior population in the country have been vaccinated, while only 10.5 million of the 63.6 million fully-vaccinated individuals have received their booster shots.
Some 27 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, Roquero said, are expected to expire by the end of July.
“This is not the time to dilly-dally. Let us not let our taxes, which were used to procure these vaccines, go to waste,” he said.
“I am hopeful that when we celebrate the World Immunization Week by the end of April, we have achieved our target of 100 percent vaccinated lolo and lola. Hundred percent vaccinated and boosted,” Roquero added.
