AnaKalusugan nominee recognized at Gawad Filipino Awards 2021
AnaKalusugan partylist nominee Ray Roquero became the recipient of the prestigious Dangal ng Batang Filipino award at the Gawad Filipino Awards 2021.
Roquero was recognized for his exemplary service as a public servant and contributions with impact on public interest – something he will bring to Congress as AnaKalusugan party-list’s partner in pushing health measures in Congress.
“I’ve been in government since 1992 and has seen how effective governance and legislation can affect the everyday lives of our countrymen – especially on one of the basic services affecting almost everyone – healthcare,” Roquero said. “A personal advocacy of mine since I was mayor, we are given a platform to protect the health of our people, the greatest resource of our country through timely legislation of bills which can impact their wellbeing.”
Prior to joining AnaKalusugan partylist as its third nominee, Roquero was senior deputy administrator of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) and a long-time mayor of Valderamma town in Antique province. He also served as an undersecretary at the Office of Political Coalition Affairs (OPCA) during the Arroyo administration.
In the past three years in Congress, Anakalusugan party-list has principally authored 15 measures increasing the capacity and upgrading hospitals across the country, 10 measures to improve the welfare of medical and health workers, 16 measures to boost health services across the country, and 16 measures to beef up the country’s pandemic response.
Now on its 16th year, the Gawad Filipino Awards seeks to recognize outstanding individuals “that greatly affect Filipino cultures, traditions and society.”
