Doc Willie reaffirms support for Anakalusugan Party-list

Vice presidential aspirant Dr. Willie Ong threw his support behind the re-election bid of the Anakalusugan party-list (No. 51) – joining the growing number of Filipinos who believe in its advocacy for a truly responsive and inclusive healthcare system in the country.

Ong, the only medical doctor among the vice presidential contenders and whose large following on social media continue to attract millions of followers, has expressed confidence that the party-list will continue to deliver on its promise of affordable and accessible healthcare for all.

“Ipagtuloy niyo lang ang pagtulong sa ating mahihirap. I am sure he will do good things — hindi lang sa Batangas, maging sa buong Pilipinas,” Ong said as he endorsed Anakalusugan and its first nominee, Ray Florence Reyes, during a campaign sortie in Batangas.

Ong earlier said that he considers the party-list group as his partner in promoting and protecting the health and well-being of all Filipinos, as “health knows no political color nor economic class.”

In 2019, Ong, then a senatorial candidate, and Anakalusugan first partnered with the same advocacy in mind – ensuring that all maintenance medicines are given free of charge under PhilHealth; providing free diagnostic tests to cover not just the curative but also the preventive aspect of healthcare; and regularizing and allocating fixed amounts of allowance for barangay health workers and barangay nutrition scholars.

In the past three years in Congress, Anakalusugan was able to deliver on its promises – having principally authored 15 key measures increasing the capacity and upgrading hospitals across the country, 10 measures to improve the welfare of medical and health workers, 16 measures to boost health services across the country, and 16 measures to beef up the country’s pandemic response.
